Air Compressor Bids Seen From Four Firms

Purchas ing Agent Leo A. Curley opened bids from four firms for an air compressor. The low bid came from State Equipment Co. of Albany at 4057 dollars. Other bids were Gateway Equipment Inc of Syracuse at 4553 dollars Van's Equipment Sales Inc of Rensselaer at 6625.88 dollars and L. B. Smith Inc of Albany at 6760 dollars.

Meany Urges Congress for More Aid to Elderly

Washington AP AFL CIO President George Meany urged Congress in testimony to boost Social Security and health measures for seniors. He called for periodic benefit adjustments tied to earnings to prevent living standards from lagging, noting current averages around 20 dollars weekly for single retirees and 33.50 for couples, with costs rising. He supportedable increases in benefits but warned costs in hospitals may rise again, complicating relief efforts.

Doctors at New York symposium discuss contact lenses

Area doctors from Mechanics, Latham, and others participated in an all day symposium at the New York Hilton titled Notes in New York City. Dr Arnold Reed and Dr J Baxter Swart spoke on corneal and scleral lenses, fitting techniques, and pre fitting methods. Papers covered benefits and difficulties, with lens appraisal during sessions.

Mrs Bounds 94 Dies Native of Ireland

Mrs Jennie Bounds aged 94 a longtime resident of Troy died yesterday. Born in Ireland she lived most of her life in the area. Surviving are a stepson and a nephew. Funeral arrangements by Albert R Fox & Son Funerals.

Grace Methodist Church Holds Annual Conference in Bennington-Troy District

The Grace Methodist Church conducted its annual conference with dessert served by the Senior Adult group. Rev. Lawrence Larrowe presided and opened with an updated Good Samaritan. Trustees Willis Bronk, Raymond Hart, and Charles A. Miller were elected for three years. A long list of stewards and honorary stewards were chosen, along with church officers and committee chairs. All reports indicated the year closed in the black with ongoing emphasis on stewardship evangelism and community service.
