The Waterford Public Library features a solo art show by Mrs. Florence Evertsen during March. The exhibit includes oil works titled Autumn Harvest Bowl of Fruit Lily Maine Boatman Melancholy Meditation and The Tempest. Library hours are 9 to 5 weekdays 9 to 1 Saturday and evenings 6 30 to 8 30 on Mondays and Thursdays.
The Senior Citizens will meet today and tomorrow from 10 am to 4 pm in the community room at the town hall. Mrs Grace Rivage, director, announced crafts will continue and lunch will be served at noon each day.
Court St Monica in Grand Council will meet today at 8 15 pm in the council rooms with Grand Regent Mrs Marion Roberts presiding.
The Waterford Halfmoon School hosts the second health workshop for primary teachers in the faculty lounge with Dr. Bernard Hughes outlining future topics. Sessions will cover mental health sense perception nutrition oral hygiene physical fitness and safety. The March 21 meeting features a mental hygiene recording and discussion with Gerald K. Douglas inviting all parents to attend with prior notice for seating.

Miss Janice M. Moore daughter of Mr and Mrs Donald Moore is Stillwater Central Schools 1967 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow. She is eligible for state and national scholarship awards. A State Homemaker of Tomorrow and runner up will be chosen from winners across the state with the winner receiving a 1500 college scholarship. Her school will receive Encyclopaedia Britannica sets. Runners up will receive a 500 educational grant.
Town board abruptly terminates the Mechanicville fire department as the protecting unit for the Pruyn Hill Fire District. Tensions rise with city officials threatening to cancel the nearby water-supply agreement to Halfmoon's dense Pruyn Hill area. The notice reflects strained local government relations and potential service changes.
President Johnson announced a goal to eliminate measles in the United States this year through vaccination. Health Secretary Gardner said 8 to 10 million children will be vaccinated, with all susceptible children protected and future births adding to the conquest of the disease. William Ryan Sr. is ill at his home. Orville May spends a few weeks in Florida. Dr. Charles Sproat, ill with a heart attack, is improving at home. Mrs. Kenneth Smith Noel and Allison Smith were weekend guests of Mrs. Dallas Cline and daughters in Ridgefield, Conn. They were guests of honor at a party given by Mr. and Mrs. Al Mutti of Rowayton, Conn.
The Fruya Hill and Waterford Road protection contract is terminated ending Ahearn Rescue Squad. The squad, in a letter to Mechanicville Board of Education, said first aid ambulance and emergency services to these areas will end but reassured continued service to the senior high school remains unaffected.
Monteo Manufacturing Co of Amsterdam will open a Mechanicville factory outlet this week in the Anthony Cimino Building. It is the fourth Montco outlet and second in Saratoga County, with hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 p.m. Friday.
Mechanicville police investigate a Saturday burglary at the Italian Fraternal Society Hall on Vial Avenue, entry gained by removing a rear window screen and cigarettes were shaken. A separate vandal raid hit a Laundromat on North Central Avenue with vending machines rifled over the weekend.
The Mechanicville Stillwater Little League Auxiliary meeting set for Hillside Inn at 8 p.m. today has been moved to Joyce's Log Cabin Restaurant.

Five Troy youths were arrested after police found a stolen safe with nearly $2,000 in cash during a search of a basement apartment. Judge John T. Casey ruled the search reasonable and refused suppression, keeping the case intact. Miss Mary Gordon, 18, faces felony charges for concealing stolen property. four co-defendants are charged with aiding or abetting. Bail set at $1,000 each. Bateman remains jailed.
The funeral of George Mc Carthy was held yesterday from McLoughlin Funeral Home and St. Patrick's Church. A Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. William Whalen with deacon Rev. Peter V. Branch and subdeacon Rt. Rev. Msgr. William H. Hunt. Bearers were Thomas Blake Jr. Kenneth Clark Michael Heaver Warren Kuchenbecker David Brougher and John Mc Carthy Jr. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery with Father Whalen officiating.
