Barrington Fair Opens with Record Premiums in 1967
Barrington Fair opens Sunday September 10 for seven days featuring competitions in cattle, sheep, canned goods, flowers, vegetables and more. Premiums in agricultural and livestock divisions exceed 18 000 dollars as the event highlights the fair’s long history and its status as one of America's oldest cattle shows. The Massachusetts Department of Agriculture funds aid the fair through the Agricultural Purposes Fund, established in 1947 to support hundreds of Massachusetts fairs and stimulate agricultural display and progress. The youth division expands to 11 departments and 356 classes while the adult division offers 20 departments and 546 classes, with many exhibits and contests anticipated to break records set in 1966.
