A Shell Oil Co. oil truck trailer struck power lines on First Avenue in Rensselaer around 5 30 p m on Wednesday evening, knocking lines down and disrupting power. Van A Best of Castleton drove the truck. Pumper One was called to wash the roadway as Patrolmen Stark and Kervan investigated.
Firemen emerge from days of smoke and danger returning home to families for the first time in three days. One comrade slain by a sniper, 89 injured, 1,200 piles of water soaked rubble smoldering as Chief Quinlan hails unprecedented courage in the Detroit Fire Department during a four day, Sunday to Wednesday blaze spree.

The funeral for Walter E. Rose a retired New York Central Railroad conductor was held yesterday from William J. Rockefeller Funeral Home with Rev. William A. Boehne officiating. Interment was in Greenbush Cemetery Clinton Heights where Boehne also presided. Joseph T. Gregory a painting contractor and Seventh Ward Democratic committeeman was buried in a private service from William J. Lyons Funeral Home with friends as bearers.
Ruth Dryfoos, 34, of New Haven, fired two blasts from a 12 gauge shotgun into a Southern Connecticut State College classroom as Professor Robert Dryfoos lectured. A student, Robert Evers, 20, was lightly hurt. the professor was wounded in the leg. Authorities charged Dryfoos with assault with intent to kill and set bond at 5000 dollars. The incident, during an anthropology lecture, appeared to stem from domestic problems.
