Mechanicville Dog Warden Seeks Leash Law Teeth

Mechanicville dog warden Fawn Floyd told the council she cannot issue tickets to owners for leash violations due to lack of authority from City Judge Vincent Pickett. Officials plan a meeting to grant ticket power and report back January 26. The council also authorized funding for aging services and a summer food program in city playgrounds.

Story hour program begins February at Shenendehowa Library

The Shenendehowa Free Library announces a winter pre school story program starting February 1 for eight weeks. Registration opens Monday for children aged three by August 31 1976. Sessions run Tuesdays at 10 15 am and 1 15 pm and Wednesdays at 10 15 am with Rita Lakes Christina Rock and Joyce Fifield leading.

Mechanicville Democratic Women elect officers at party meeting

At a recent gathering in Mechanicville the group elected Carm Batchleder president Mae Del Viccio vice president Venita Parker secretary Joan Topetro treasurer Jackie Taglione sergeant of arms Stella Scer bo publicity officer and trustees Mary Moracco Alma Du Pris. The group will meet Friday at 7 30 p m at Mary Hmura 40 Burke Street to finalize plans for the postponed Christmas party. The Sons of Italy in Mechanicville announced its annual Italian Dinner for February 12 at 5 p m in the club rooms sponsored by the lodge and the Senior and Junior Dante Clubs. Tickets are available from club members. A nominating committee led by Richard D Alberto will present a new slate of officers January 20 and plans for the Communion Breakfast on Lent's first Sunday February 27.

Four hurt in Milton two car crash on Route 150

Four people were treated at area hospitals after a Sunday evening two car collision on Route 150 near Brookline Road. Jean Querback 20 and Melissa Capra 12 were admitted to Ellis Hospital with lacerations, Daniel Shatinan 23 to Saratoga Hospital with a compound leg fracture, and Harry Beninati 19 was treated and released for forehead lacerations. The accident occurred about 8 25 p.m. when Beninati fled north to avoid the Overback car. No summonses were issued and investigators continued. Car of Athens man in grisly Catskill find

State Police recovered the car of Robert J. Flanders 23 of Athens near Canniff Road in Greene County. Flanders body was found by passersby about 10 am Wednesday with police stating it likely lay there overnight. No suspects are named and police declined to comment on shootings inside the car.

Blind Galway woman dies in house fire

Annie Doohan, a blind resident, died from smoke inhalation after a morning fire at her two story Galway home. Firemen found her chair bound body on the first floor. police suspect the blaze began in a wood burning stove as the house was nearly destroyed. Walter Doohan was away in Saratoga Springs.

Stillwater firefighters arrived as a one family two story home on Colonial Road was engulfed. Paul Benoit and his wife awakened by a smoke alarm at about 2 am woke their four children upstairs. Cause believed to have started on the second floor. investigation ongoing.
