Mechanicville to open new fire station save three old houses
Mechanicville moves to replace five fire houses with a new North Main Street station funded by a federal Community Development program about 310000 dollars. When ready, three aging stations will close and one house will heat three others, cutting maintenance and heating costs. Construction started last summer and the former sites on City Hall Fran cis Central Avenue and Saratoga Avenue will be retired. The Viail Avenue and Tancredi's Diner areas will keep two newer stations. The city says the new station will be the best fire department building in New York State.
