State Department of Audit and Control recommends the Cohoes Parking Authority be dissolved. The report says its functions could be absorbed by city operations and the authority should transfer all rights and property to the city as law provides.
AIRMAN RICHARD R. EDMONDS graduates from an air craft maintenance course at Sheppard AFB Texas and will serve at Cannon AFB New Mexico earning credits toward an applied science degree. SGT MICHAEL G. MUMBLON serves at Tinker AFB Oklahoma with an Air Force Communications unit after earlier duty at Dyess AFB Texas. He is a 1970 high school grad. his wife Patsy is Fort Worth native. The piece also notes a state parking authority audit from 1972–75 detailing limited activities and calls for possible dissolution.
Glenn E. Garnsey son of Mrs Florence Garnsey of Schuylerville was commissioned a second lieutenant after completing the Reserve Components Officer Candidate Course at Ft. Benning Ga He attended Adirondack Community College in Glens Falls and now resides at 258 North Broad St Schuylerville with his wife Adelaide.
Avant Garde hosts a New Year Eve benefit at the Cohoes Elks Club on Mohawk Street starting 9 p.m. The Band provides entertainment with hot and cold buffet free beer soda hats and noisemakers. Proceeds support the Avant Garde Drum and Bugle Corps.
Albany County and the county highway department employees represented by CSEA have entered factfinding over a raised pay. CSEA says workers earn about 1.2 dollars less per hour than peers. starting wages are around 3.25 per hour with a five year wage of 3.80. The union seeks a fair increase though the exact amount is not disclosed. The contract expires December 31 and six bargaining sessions have occurred.
Albany County restructures the Support Unit into the Albany County Child Support Collection Unit. It remains in the Family Court Building at Lodge and Pine Streets Albany NY 12207 and will collect and disburse court ordered and voluntary child support payments. Payments accepted are money orders cashier's checks or cash. personal checks are not accepted. The change follows state legislation assigning duties to local Child Support Enforcement Units. Family court procedures for hearing cases fixing support and delinquency follow ups remain unchanged.
Oliver Curtis Perry, 25, famed as the nerviest outlaw in the country, hid in Troy after a bold 1891 baggage car robbery on a New York Central train. Pinkerton posters offered $1,000 for his arrest as he fled aboard a westbound train in 1892 after pistol whipping a messenger guard and triggering a alarm signaling.
Joe Parker recounts Perry’s train robberies across New York and New Jersey. Perry was captured after a long chase near Newark, then tried in Syracuse and sentenced to 49 years in prison. He later went insane in Clinton, escaped Matteawan, and died in Clinton Prison in 1930 at age 64.
Albany county high school juniors and seniors are invited to enter a Dream House art contest run by the Albany County Board of Realtors. Arnold Kaplan and Jill Merz supervise with art directors from county high schools. Entries will be displayed at Colonie Center Mall January 29 to February 4, 1978 with savings bonds awarded for top three.
A free blood pressure screening event will be held Tuesday at the Albany Red Cross Chapter House on Hackett Boulevard. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the public may attend without an appointment. Volunteers include Mary Ames Jo Collins and Paula Collins.

Stacey Schwartz, a Southern California student on the AFS program, spoke to the Schuylerville Women's Guild at the December 19 meeting. She discussed school and community life in California and answered questions after her talk, staying with Mrs. Omar Boivin.
