James F. Poole of 844 Broadway is appointed by Mayor Joseph P. Mink to the Rensselaer Board of Education to fill the term from September 1, 1976 to June 30, 1980. Poole replaces John Malone, a longtime president who resigned after 11 years. Poole, a lifelong Rensselaer resident, is a Siena College BA graduate and serves as a student loan service manager with SUNY Central Administration.
East Greenbush’s Robert A. Niematalo 21, son of Mr and Mrs Robert R Niemitalo, completed the advanced Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps course at the Naval Sciences Institute Newport RI. He is a junior at RPI in Troy. His wife Colleen is daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph P Pickett of Averill Park.
East Greenbush public schools guidance departments announce orientation days for seventh grade at Goff Middle School from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. and freshmen at Columbia High School from 9:15 to 10:45 A.M. on September 1. Students will receive schedules, tour buildings, and attend Q A sessions. Transportation to sessions is the students' responsibility.

Pease 18 daughter of Mr and Mrs Morgan A Pease of 900 Clove Road Castleton has reported for duty with Training Squadron 30 at Naval Air Station Pensacola Florida A 1975 Maple Hill High School graduate she joined the Navy in September 1975 Her mother recently won a Times Record Play Politics game.
Saratoga Springs Based Saratoga Ballet struggles with limited local venues as it tours to gain audiences. Founder Phyllis Latin leads 14 dancers in Streets a jazz ballet at Clifton Country Mall with no orchestra or curtain. Latin notes 90 percent of income comes from jazz performances and aims to expose more people to dance while preparing dancers for auditions and professional life.
An undercover U S Immigration raid at Saratoga Race Course arrested 39 stablehands suspected of being illegal aliens. Twenty nine were taken to New York City for prosecution or deportation, ten released after questioning, with most detainees from Latin America.
RENSSELAER police investigated a weekend robbery and made several minor arrests. Raymond Wilcox reported a 12:30 a.m. robbery near 23 Second Ave with loss of a watch ring wallet and 80 dollars. Michael S. Irish faced disorderly conduct charges and 5 bail. Thomas L. O'Donnell charged with disorderly conduct and open container, released on 20 bail. James R. Sackett released on own recognizance after arrest on a warrant for attempted criminal possession.
Six year old Richard Mull of 612 River Road was not injured when his bicycle collided with a car on Route 9J. Driver Joseph Higinbotham of Route 1 was not charged in the Sunday afternoon accident.
Timothy E. Dunn of Averill Park was hospitalized at Albany Medical Center after a motorcycle crash on Washington Avenue in Rensselaer. He suffered a partially severed finger and minor injuries when the bike tipped at the Lindberg Avenue intersection near 2:21 a.m. today.
