Hudson Falls man threatens daughter with knife on ledge
Hudson Falls police faced a tense 4 hour standoff after Owen Anderson, 36, grabbed his three year old daughter Tammy and held a knife at a third floor window at 36 John St. Fire crews and clergy assisted. A friend from West Glens Falls talked him down and he was removed to Glens Falls Hospital for observation. Charges are pending.

Mechanicville police report a man was treated and released from Leonard Hospital after being struck from behind near his Harris Avenue home. Tony DeCrescenzo said he was assaulted at about 2 a.m. Saturday, knocked down and kicked, then later unidentified by him. Michael Miranda found him unconscious and drove him to the Troy hospital.

Latham man killed in Niskayuna crash
A 25-year-old Latham man, John Blakeney of 8 Dassault Drive, died after a one car crash on Lishakill Road near Warner Road in Niskayuna. Casey D. Stenglein, 17, of Schenectady, faced speeding and failure to keep right charges. Blakeney was pronounced dead at Ellis Hospital after being extricated by fire and ambulance crews. Police at the scene included Chief C. J. Crookes and Det. D. V. Pasquariello.

Brooks Richard Barvoets of Schuyler Meadows Club Road faced a charge of reckless operation of an aircraft after troopers heard buzzing sounds over Bluebird Road in South Glens Falls Monday. He was arrested near 7 p.m. and pleaded guilty at arraignment before Monroe Town Justice John Fraser. Sentencing adjourned to September 9.

Fire damages Poestenkill family home
Poestenkill fire chief Edward Hughes reports a Thursday morning blaze at the Donald Numbers home on North Road East Poestenkill. The interior was extensively damaged while the roof and exterior walls were saved. Donald Numbers was away at work. his wife Judy and their two young children escaped unharmed.
