Words, Wit And Wisdom
One of the heritages of Walter Winchell is the device of separating column items with ellipses. Other columnists have used em-dashes in place of commas and other marks of punctuation. A third group, mainly society and movie columnists, favors exclamation points capital letters and a mix of these elements.
