Albany officials announced a fast track debris removal contract for the Green Island Bridge over the Hudson River. The contractor faces a 2500 daily penalty if the channel stays blocked after May 6 and a 2500 daily bonus for each day required to open full navigation before May 6, with bids to be reviewed soon and work to begin on removing the bridge tower. The project may cost 250000 to 500000 and processing will be expedited. There is also movement on transferring ownership and responsibility for the bridge remains to the state.
