Headless Roman statues sweep across Italy in head-snatching wave
AP reports a spate of missing marble heads from ancient Roman statues, nine decapitations in two years. Experts suspect commissioned theft by specialists for collectors abroad, not vandalism or souvenir hunting. The loss spans Italy from Aosta to Puglia, with Hermes and Venus de Milo among the headless pieces.

X Ray Machine Donated To Chicago Museum
The Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago received an X-ray machine donated by a West German firm after Dr W Stuermer of Siemens Reiniger Works learned of the museum needs. Dr Rainer Zangerl, chief curator of geology, noted the old X-ray gear was worn out. Zangerl has 30 years of paleontological X-ray work, including discoveries from shale in Indiana that revealed a shark fossil about 285 million years old.
