Shenendehowa school board released a tentative 1976 77 budget totaling 17 947 529 up 1 841 549 over 1975. It funds 18 new teaching positions a special education coordinator discipline dean and preventive maintenance with state aid increasing about 250 000. A public hearing is set for Wednesday at 7 30 p m in Middle School A Library.
Clifton Park Halfmoon Bowl on Route 9 reported vandalism in the early morning with 10 to 15 vending machines damaged, bar area broken, and some liquor bottles shattered. Locks largely intact but some windows were broken. estimated damage between 2000 and 3000 dollars. no arrests reported. Investigator Raymond Van Buskirk noted possible entry via key or intruder hiding inside.
Clifton Park celebrates the grand opening on Route 146 with flowers in lapels, fashion displays, and promotional contests. Shoppers from Columbia County savor well stocked stores and easy access replacing trips to the Northway for one stop shopping.
Reports from Capital District stores praise strong first day sales at the Clifton Park Mall while many corridors remain sparsely filled and 300,000 square feet still vacant. Mall officials expect continued promotions as 17 stores push to open by summer with employment initially focused in Clifton Park area.
Mechanicville Kiwanis Club announces a noon Easter Egg Hunt at Tallmadge Park on April 10 with 400 plastic eggs 50 containing prize tickets. Prizes include toys chocolate rabbits bike flags and pizzas donated by club members plus 75 pounds of jelly beans for non winning kids.
Robert J. Jewett 32 of 331 Fire Lane Schodack was found with gunshot wounds at 5 53 a m. He is in critical condition at Albany Medical Center. The shotgun used is a 12 gauge. Sheriff Eugene Eaton leads the investigation with Senior Investigator J Johnson and Sgt Michael Clunis. Family unavailable for comment.

The American Field Service of Schuylerville hosts its annual international buffet Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Primary School. Tickets are available from members or at the door. Donations of food are welcomed and can be dropped at the school or arranged for pickup via Mrs. Norbert Nolte.
The Old Saratoga Athletic Association will vend refreshments at Fort Hardy Park before and during the Bicentennial Canoe Races at Schuylerville Beach on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
In Saratoga Springs 170 SEIU custodial and cafeteria workers defied a temporary restraining order after a walkout over a contract with White Wing Inc. The college president waited on tables as union leaders call the stoppage, not a strike, and a secret ballot was not held. A White Wing meeting is set for Monday to discuss impacts on the 41 unionized workers.
