Hudson brothers challenge useful pleas in Albany appeal

The Court of Appeals will hear the arguments of Geoffrey and Joseph Lawrence who appeal the legality of events before their 1973 guilty pleas for marijuana possession in East Greenbush Town Court. They argue that a suppression hearing timing and state law violate judiciary calendar control and prejudice their defense. Assistant DA Kevin Moss defends the law as not unconstitutional. The brothers were stopped May 5, 1973 on Routes 9 and 20 by Trooper Morris who smelled marijuana and found cigarettes with what appeared to be marijuana inside.

Indictment and misaddressed residence noted in Rensselaer

James T. Kennedy of 11 Mohawk Ave in East Greenbush was indicted on two counts of second degree grand larceny by an Albany County Grand Jury though listed as a Rensselaer address. Sheriff and state troopers investigate with no arrests. no further information released. The Rensselaer Common Council met to approve payrolls, including $9 77.10 for the highway department and $960.35 for the water department.

Rensselaer men arrested on burglary and larceny charges

Two Rensselaer residents were arrested on third degree burglary petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. James L. Conlin 19 of 202 Washington Ave released on 2000 bail to appear April 8. David W. Miller 16 of 1444 First St held for court after arrest on charges.
