Frederika Cub Scout Pack 11 September meeting tour
Frederika Cub Scout Pack 11 held a September 2 meeting with a tour and picnic at Spillville. Families met at the Fire Station then visited Bily clocks Ft Atkinson and Festina’s smallest church, returning via watermelons. Next pack meeting set for late September. Various local families visited and traveled to Ames, Den ver and Readlyn as noted in community greetings. The note closes with a historical fact about the Monitor, the first ironclad turreted U S Navy vessel, launched in 1862.

Iowa TV Schooltime returns to Iowa classrooms
Central and eastern Iowa schools will again view Iowa TV Schooltime this fall. The program, sponsored by the Iowa Joint Committee on Educational Television, will be shown on WOI-TV Ames WMT-TV Cedar Rapids and KWWL-TV Waterloo with study guides available via local officials and the Iowa Department of Public Instruction. The 1963 1964 schedule lists times and topics for each station. Over 6 000 pencils were displayed at Hampton by Albert Biloff who began collecting them about 15 years ago.

School districts to receive all general aid funds
Statewide general aid totaling $19,529,780 will be paid in full as claims total $19,102,733. Supplemental and transportation aid are underfunded. supplemental claims amount to $8,574,206 but only $4 million is available for 1962-63, yielding 46.6 percent. Transportation claims total $6,875,899 with 58 percent funded.

Melons Reported On Maquoketa Farm This Year
On the William Conery farm north of Maquoketa large melons are growing. Two big watermelons weigh 40 and 41 pounds, many others run 36 to 38 pounds each. Muskmelons as heavy as nine pounds have been raised this year by Arthur Risinger.
