Final Rites for At Barbknecht Held Saturday
Albert Fred Barbknecht 69 died Wednesday at Veterans hospital Knoxville. Funeral services were Saturday at Rettig Funeral home and St. John's Lutheran Frederika with Rev. W H Klein officiating. Military rites were given at the church cemetery by Sumner American Legion. He served in World War I in France and lived 20 years with his brother Ed in Frederika before hospital admission. Survived by two brothers Ed Frederika and Ernest Waverly and three sisters Lena Schumacher August Meier Tripoli and Adena Dick Baraboo Wis. He was preceded by two brothers.

Readlyn votes to extend council terms to four years
Readlyn voters approve a measure to extend town council terms from two to four years. Two New District Judges Appointed By Governor Hughes
Governor Hughes appointed Warren Reese a Republican from Anamosa and Edward Kennedy a Democrat from Sibley as Iowa's first judges under the new system. Reese takes over in the 18th district from Donald Barnes. Kennedy fills the 21st district vacancy caused by the death of T E Klay of Orange City. They will serve until January 1 1965 and must seek retention in the 1964 general election if they wish to stay beyond that date.
