Tripoli high school band members Margie Biermann and Carolyn Rogge win division wings in baton twirling test at the Iowa High School Music association state marching band contest in Postville. The marching band earns division 2 rating, alongside other division 2 winners Betty Hildebrandt and Lorraine Rettig. About 20 schools and nearly 4,000 students competed across classes C and D with judges from Iowa and Minnesota.

Readlyn high school captured the Bremer County conference fall baseball title with a 4–0 league record. Frederika was second at 3–1, Plainfield 2–2, Denver 1–3, Janesville 0–4. Art Miller, Janesville coach and league secretary, announced the standings. The conference will hold its first annual basketball jamboree in the new Janesville gym Saturday night, November 8.

Henry J. Eick of Sumner, born Aug 29 1879, died Saturday morning at 5:45. Funeral services were Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Berg Funeral Home Sumner with a 2 p.m. service at St Evangelical and Reformed Buck Creek. burial at St. John's church cemetery. Surviving are six sons Ernest Walter Ville John Bayond Herbert. two daughters Anita Meier Lorena Schellhorn. four brothers Herman William. four sisters Bertha Geffert Martha Steuber Hannah Hallmann Hulda Voelker Emma Harder. 30 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents and sister Marie Steuber.

Blume Family Injured in Monday Auto Crash near Tripoli
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Blume and daughter Marjorie were in a Monday morning accident south of Tripoli while traveling to Buck Grove. Their car was struck by a vehicle driven by Elsa Doddema of Butler County, causing a rollover. Mrs. Blume suffered a cracked pelvic bone and severe bruises and was hospitalized. Mr. Blume and Marjorie were sent home. Marjorie uninjured and Mr. Blume with minor bruises, sprains, and a cracked rib.

Five members of the Tripoli high school student council attended a Monday gathering of the Iowa Association of Student Councils at the Iowa State College student union in Ames. Attendees were Lillian Fuchs, Lowell Ambrose, Larry Poock, Delores Bock, and Harlan Bremer, with John J. Casey as accompanying commercial instructor.
