The sheriff announces a new driver license law effective January 1 1952 requiring all automobile drivers to hold licenses. Applicants apply via the county sheriff, then Des Moines auto department issues licenses. Car owners may apply without a fee, need their registration card, and ages 15 to 18 must sign with guardian. Licenses for 14 to 15 year olds allow school commuting only. Applications handled at the County Treasurer's office with plans to visit larger county towns to issue about 200 licenses daily for 60 days.
