Increase Price in Hogs Necessary Says Chas Hearst
Chas E Hearst president of the Iowa farm bureau federation urged immediate action to raise hog prices. He argued for foreign outlets or production control via tax, noting a 13 percent rise in fall pig farrowing and a 3 percent winter spring increase. He called for marketing sows held for fall farrowing to reduce the fall pig crop and support price recovery. He spoke after Washington conferences with meat packers and agriculture officials.
