United Nations Contest Open to U.S. High Schools
The 38th annual high school contest, sponsored by the American Association for the United Nations and its Iowa division, invites all U.S. high school pupils to register by February 1, 1964 with Pearle Tallman in Des Moines. An exam on three booklets will be held March 3, 1964 in registered schools, with prizes including Europe trips, college scholarships, and U.S. hostel trips. Local prizes and state level awards provide bonds and cash. Prizes announced in April at the Iowa AAUN meeting. national winners to be notified by telegram.

Farmers Selling Seed Off Premises Must Have Permit
County Extension Director Gene Vincent says farmers selling seed off premises such as at an auction barn elevator or store must obtain a permit number to sell. Iowa State University seed testing lab says farmers selling seed grown on their own farm and delivered from the farm to the purchaser are not required to have a permit. People selling seed for a company with a permit need not obtain their own permit. The fee is 5 per year with permits expiring July 1 after issue. renew if selling seed again.
