The Educational Committee of the Illinois State Medical Society warns mumps is more common than believed. The virus infects the parotid glands near the ears causing swelling and fever for several days with pain on one side. Most cases are mild but complications can affect sex glands, especially in adolescents and adults.
Chadwick briefs that Kenneth Krempel led the Grange quartet to Springfield on Tuesday for the State Grange contest with members including Mrs. Charles Cordon Jr. and Viva Misiewicz among others. Sunday dinner guests in Morrison included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schroeder and the Jacobs, Manning, and Wilma Schneider families.
