Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Christian Reformed church in Fulton for Mrs. Peter Bronkema Sr. who died Saturday after a cerebral hemorrhage. Dr. James Putt officiated with burial in Fulton Cemetery. She was born Jennie Muur in the Netherlands in 1878 and came to the United States in 1900.
The Savanna league bowling night on Oct 4 saw Diehl Oil Co. beat Spring Lake 2 to 1 while Elizabeth No. 1 lost 3 games to Diehl Oil Co. On Oct 11 Diehl Oil Co. faced Elizabeth and Sack & McBride took on Crystal Bar in scheduled matches.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Heusinkveld marked their 20th wedding anniversary with a surprise gathering Friday evening October 1. Friends joined for cards and social time, bringing refreshments and giving a pot of money to the couple. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Paul Munson Mr. and Mrs. Harold Elliott Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hogg Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Murray and Mrs. Esther Gablin.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kustes Sr. were surprised on their 40th wedding anniversary at a Fulton home party hosted by the Fields family. Attendees included relatives from Fulton Morrison Clinton Chicago and Thom son. a gift was presented to the couple. Also noted were Sunday dinners with Mrs. Clara Tessman in Morrison and a motor trip group reaching Seattle, Washington.

Myron Tibbits at Jane Lamb hospital since Sunday shows improvement and may be released today. Mrs Vernon McGinty at Ottawa sanitarium is improving and up several hours daily.
Charles Buckwalter William G Hansen Delmar Gillespie and Clarence Christensen all of Savannah along with Joseph Shutters and Ben Wagner served as pallbearers last Thursday in Minneapolis for Raymond E Holloway. Mr and Mrs John Sloan and daughter Jill of Craig Manor bought the Miller home. Mr and Mrs Miller and son Fred Jr bought the former Hower farm near Lanark.
Miss Pearl Holman daughter of Mr and Mrs Earl Holman Sr of Savanna will wed Del bert Jenks son of Mr and Mrs James Jenks Sr of Sterling on the night. Pearl attended Thomson schools and works in a Savanna beauty shop. The piece notes the Holmans former Thomson residents and local social ties.

York high school launches its annual magazine drive to fund stage curtains. The campaign sponsored by Curtis Publishing Co. runs ten days with strong early sales. freshmen lead after first day as juniors ordered class rings from Josten Co. expected to arrive December first.
Mrs. Harold Brown and Mrs. Otto Switzer attended the Savanna Womens Club luncheon at the Presbyterian church on Friday. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Engelking and Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Ritchie of Lanark on Sunday evening. James Manspeaker and Morrison residents bought Robert Holland’s pool hall and plan to move to Thomson soon. Miss Wilma Cole, ill in Springville New York, is noted by her sister Mrs. Ernest Whitney. Mrs. Leonard Feldt and Mrs. Otto Switzer attended a Home Bureau floor care lesson in Mt. Carroll, to be repeated at the next meeting. Mr. Mike Tucker of Camanche Illinois, Mrs. Heinze and son of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. B. R. Lewis visit the Gates family in Hayward Wisconsin.
Henry Hebeler 67 died at 7 15 p m Monday at his Thomson area home. Funeral held 2 p m Thursday at York Community Church with Rev Thomas S Cleworth officiating. Burial in Lower York cemetery. Survived by second wife Anna Marie Seets and five sons Henry Jr Clinton Robert Savanna Edward Leonard Kenneth all of Thomson, five grandchildren, sister Mrs Emil DeTaye Clinton, and brother William Hebeler Davenport Iowa.
The Live Wire class of the Baptist church held a Thursday evening hayride for 24 class members and invited friends. After returning to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert St. Ores home for chili, new members were initiated. The night continued with stunts music and singing.
