Spencer Wins Second in Bi-State 8-Ball Tourney
Bill Spencer 25 of Thomason earned $150 by finishing second in the Class C division of the Bi-State Area 8-Ball Tournament in Davenport Iowa over the weekend. About 300 players from Iowa and Illinois competed, with elimination rounds over two days. Spencer, son of Mr and Mrs Ned Spencer, lives in Argo Fay, works at DuPonts in Clinton and Krahn Motors part time in Thomson.

Public Invited to Visit Fulton Home During Nursing Week

Red Cross Feeds 600 During Flood Crisis in Carroll County
Carroll County Red Cross reports 600 meals served during the flood response. Volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 61 led by Mrs Donald Ashby and Senior Troop 28 led by Mrs William Stevens helped with sandwiches and serving. Local clubs and congregations contributed kitchens, meals, and volunteer hours, with multiple church groups standing by.

Grandson Killed In Motorcycle Accident Friday
Terry J. Andrews 22 of Rock Island, grandson of Mrs. Vera Paulsen of Thomson, died Friday in a Moline motorcycle crash. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. at Knox-Larsen chapel, Rock Island, with burial at Rose Lawn Memorial cemetery. A native of Moline, he performed as Lippy the Leprechaun on local tv and in night clubs. Survived by mother Marjorie DeHaven of Rock Island, a half-brother, three half-sisters, and his grandmother.

The Thomson Woman's Club met May 1 in Morrison’s Brick House with 34 attendees. A banquet followed, after which an auditing committee was formed and scholarships were announced for Pam Kaufman and Larry McWorthy to attend a music camp. The club approved summer and winter projects, sold Timberlake play tickets, and installed 1969 70 officers.

Band Boosters Donate 600 for New Instruments

About 150 attendees enjoyed the Savanna Community Chorus Sunday program. Soloists Richard Sears and Ben Powers performed with descants by James Keene and Mrs. Allen Beyer. Rites Held for Lanark Youth Kim Nesemeier
Kim Nesemeier 20 of Lanark died when a tractor he drove overturned on his father's farm two miles north of Lanark. The inquest ruled accidental crushing injuries. He was born August 24 1948 and survived by parents a brother and sister. Funeral services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church Lanark with burial in Lanark Cemetery.
