Thomson criticized as wasteland by Chicago writer
Thomson citizens defend the town after Carl R. Kessler's Unconducted Tours of Illinois described the area as desert waste between Fulton and Savanna. They argue the article omits thriving farms in Carroll County and York township showing corn yields near 100 bushels and strong Holstein and Guernsey herds. A letter to the Chicago Daily News publisher urges fair, fuller coverage and notes Route 80 improvements near Thomson.
