Scrap Aluminum To Be Sent To Rockford Center
City officials in Carroll and seven other northern Illinois counties coordinate to send scrap aluminum from a recent drive to Rockford. Rockford is the reception point for aluminum collected in Winnebago Stephenson Carroll Whiteside Jo Daviess Ogle Lee and Joone counties. Illinois counties move to permanent voter registration in 1942
Before the November 1942 general election a permanent registration system will be adopted for all voters in this and other Illinois counties. County clerks will manage registration outside cities with election commissions. Precinct boards will handle registration, with offices open on designated days. Names on the rolls may be erased if challenged, and nonvoters over four years will face reinstatement requirements starting after 1946. Deputy registrars and judges earn four dollars per day.
