Ridenhour Replies to Raines on Vinita Fire Dept
In Vinita April 20 1912 H E Ridenhour replies to Mert Raines letter attacking the Vinita Fire Department and Chief. He defends the department saying it is not political and that he was appointed legally by the mayor and city council. He lists department rules and argues he organized and led the department without pay, noting past tensions with political figures and fellow firefighters. He also includes a long selection from religious critiques and urges readers to seek progress and resist superstition.
