In Muskogee Oklahoma on April 16 Jack Davis a leader of the Porum feudists shot Jesse Maxwell in the back and wounded Leonard McCullough on a roadway near Main street and the Commercial National bank. Davis fired four shots as crowed onlookers watched while Maxwell and McCullough attempted to flee. Both victims were aligned with the anti-Davis faction and had been named as men who shot Davis from an ambush near his Texanna ranch last week.
