The Western Virginia Continuum of Care will conduct its annual Point-in-Time homeless count on January 25, surveying residents across Frederick Clarke Page Rockingham Shenandoah Warren counties and Winchester city. The prior regional total was 268, with HUD funding tied to data collection and services aiding 1500 to 2000 people yearly.

Charlie Martin obituary a Front Royal resident dies at 70
Charles Edward Charlie Martin, 70, of Front Royal, Virginia, died January 4, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center from a severe brain injury after a December 17 fall on ice. A January 10 funeral at Maddox Funeral Home, with entombment at Panorama Memorial Gardens, honored his 50 years at Gilliam Lumber, patronage of By-Pass Grocery, and service as a Warren County Park Ranger. He was born November 14, 1946 in Warren County to Harry and Agnes Martin, married Betty Barbe Martin in 1969, and is survived by Betty, daughter April, grandson Kristina, siblings, and many friends.
