Doctor prescribed thousands of oxycodone pills amid probe
Virginia records show Ball’s medical license expired in November 2022 after she prescribed about 50,000 oxycodone pills to Calix and other patients over ten years. Calix recruited relatives to become patients, sold pills, and Ball wrote pills for drug traffickers in exchange for money. Ball banned after 2015 sanction, denied new patients unless vouched, with an undercover FBI sting. Calix pleaded guilty for conspiracy and forfeited $540,000. Sovereign and Talbot, co-defendants, received 4 1/2 and 3 1/2 years respectively.
