Italians Meet in Big Reunion This Week

Shankey and Son Found Guilty in Arson Case
S. H. Shankey and son James were found guilty of arson by Judge G. O. Driscoll in the eel county circuit court. The elder received an indeterminate two to ten year sentence with a three and a half year recommendation. James drew five to ten years with a 70 year recommendation. The pair were implicated after a Bergland building owned by the elder burned on March 29, with James driving his father to Bergland and back. Insurance on the burned structure was about $12 000.

Township Board to Buy Five Ton Truck for Winter Snow Work
The township board will hold a special meeting next Thursday to purchase a new five ton truck for general township use primarily for snow removal in winter. Demonstrations of several makes have been held and will continue next week. At its last meeting the board donated $100 to the American Legion to help defray costs of the July 4th celebration and water carnival.

Wakefield Track Team Earns Fourth in UP Meet
Wakefield eight-man track team closed its most successful season with a fourth place finish at the Menominee upper peninsula meet last Saturday. The squad scored 14 points, while Menominee led with 45, Escanaba 34, and Iron Mountain 18. Cavender was fourth in the centry dash and second in the low hurdles. Hammer took second in the mile, Buck fourth in the half mile, and Yatchak was second in the shot put and third in the discus.
