Rotes Entertain Children At Its Annual Party

The Wakefield Rotary Club hosted a large Christmas party at the high school cafeteria on December 16 with twenty six guests. Guests and escorts were treated to a national anthem, pledge, dinner, several musical numbers directed by Miss Kathryn A. McNamara, and Rotarian Claus distributing candy and gifts. No skating on Christmas Eve. rink open for elementary children 1:30 to 3:30 Christmas Day. adult skating 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. and public 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Tuesday and 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Lepisto Family Announces Year of Newborns

The Lepisto clan reports four new additions to the second generation this year. Marilyn Alice Lepisto born December 22 in Woodland Hills California to Walter and Dorothy Sundeen Lepisto. Carol Sue Lepisto born December 18 in La Canada California to Carl and Ruth Lepisto. Sherry Ann Frazer born to Robert and Ruth Frazer Pacific Palisades California, Ruth being a Lepisto by birth. A son born to Morris and unknown Lepisto in Burbank California. Grandparents total fourteen grandchildren.

Local students and families prepare for Christmas travel and visits

Connor Lumber and Land Distributes Christmas Bonuses

More than 10000 in Christmas checks will be distributed to 120 employees of Connor Lumber and Land Company in Wakefield. Each worker received a bonus via payroll Thursday afternoon as the mill and woods operations pause until Monday. Names include Lawrence Brozzo and Roy Cassidy.

Christmas Cheer at Wakefield Hospital

Wakefield Hospital hosts Christmas decorations and carol groups to lift patients spirits. Girl Scouts and St Marys Sodality sang, Santa visited, two young patients cheered by the season, and thanks were extended to local sponsors for trees and decorations.

Uthrotars Anniversary Party Features Photo Narration

Uthrotars Guests at Anniversary Party will be produced by Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hanson at the 11th annual birth anniversary of the Uthrotar movement to be held Monday evening at the Community building. Former Uthrotars of the Wakefield Rotary club are invited as guests of the parent club. Mrs. Hanson will narrate three groups of colored photographs from a western trip sponsored by Marshall Field & Company.

No Work Saturday at Sunday Lake Mine Holiday Week Schedule

The Sunday Lake mine will operate only the day shift on Christmas Eve and will be idle Saturday and Sunday except for maintenance. Normal operations resume Monday. The day shift will work New Year’s Eve and there will be no work on New Year’s Day.
