The Wakefield News is published weekly from 406 Sunday Lake Street Wakefield Michigan and entered as second class matter November 18 1913 at the Wakefield post office under the act of March 3 1879.
Michigan educators led by the Michigan Education Association and executive director Dr. A J Phillips seek to amend the state constitution in November 1956 to create an eight member state board of education that would appoint the superintendent, aiming to curb political influence in public instruction. Dr Clair L Taylor endorses moving the post to appointment and nonpartisan board elections are planned. State police to launch a saturation patrol with 200 new troopers and camera enforcement to reduce highway accidents before Memorial Day, with funds for two new state office buildings planned despite legal objections.
