Wakefield Post Hosts State Police Inspection Tour
Visit by Oscar G. Olander commissioner James Enyart chief clerk and Fred Van Campen chief photographer for the depot occurred Wednesday afternoon. The group traveled from Iron Mountain on an annual inspection trip visiting Wakefield and other range cities then continued Thursday to L'Anse and Marquette posts. It was Olander's first Wakefield visit in two years and the others’ first on this trip. The commissioner praised Wakefield as the most charming site in the state and lauded local cooperation with the detachment.

School Board Names Four New Teachers
The Wakefield Board of Education elected four new teachers at a special meeting held Monday night August 7. Miss Margaret Mahey of Ann Arbor will fill the Central School kindergarten position. She brings experience and training. Miss Vera Cicero and Miss Doris join the faculty with soprano voices and teaching credentials. Superintendent Thomas announced all vacancies filled and the 1939-1940 term will begin Tuesday September 5 with a pre meeting September 4 at nine o'clock.
