Weight limits placed on Va 602 bridge near Shenandoah
The Virginia Department of Transportation posted weight limits on the Va 602 truss bridge over the South Fork Shenandoah River near Shenandoah at the Rockingham Page county line. Regular inspections show the bridge cannot handle heavier commercial loads. Single unit vehicles are limited to 27 tons and combination vehicles to 34 tons. The bridge dates from 1955 with older trusses from the 1920s. VDOT plans restoration to unposted condition and will announce a work schedule. For updates, call 511 or visit 511Virginia.org.

Schools standardize crisis plan templates for emergencies
The Safe School Focus Group adopted a 100 page Virginia template, revised to 75 pages for uniform crisis plans across schools. Plans retain the same content but use a simpler format, with evacuation sites added locally and stored at each school and the division office. State law requires annual reviews and timely Wed modifications.
