Neighbors oppose event barn. county bars use near Island Ford

Neighbors objected to a barn conversion for weddings and corporate events at Cave Hill Farm, west of Island Ford Road and south of U S 33. The Hopkinses were told by the county they cannot hold special events there, after an October meeting where residents criticized the plan and Facebook postings advertised the site as Cave Hill Farm's Heritage Barn. The Hopkinses say the farm has been in their family since 1830 and they aim to preserve it for future generations. Supervisor Mike Breeden noted such permits require balancing applicant and neighbor interests, citing other local centers with greater distance or acreage between structures and surrounding property.
