New NMU president Shannon Wall vows cooperation with shipowners
Shannon Jerome Wall, 54, Seattle native and Baltimore NMU veteran, has been elected NMU president amid industry changes since 1956. The 50,000-member union faces fewer ships, more efficient freighters, and calls for federal help. Wall will serve a four-year, 49000 dollar annual term and emphasizes cooperation over strikes.
