Gurley village plans foreclosures against 92 parcels due to delinquent taxes. Attorney G P Kratz filed actions in district court and will supervise steps to clear tax burdens and restore properties to revenue rolls. County foreclosures have yielded good results and Gurley aims for the same outcome.
Henry Blome of Dalton reports the first crop of wool from 600 ewes bought in Wyoming at four dollars each, costing 2400 dollars. Sheep wool sold for 3171 dollars after shearing, with 500 lambs yet to come and the original 600 ewes remaining. Blome claims sheep raising is the coming thing for Cheyenne county and will outpace his cattle investment on the North Platte river.
Guy C. Chambers of Lincoln and Rock Island general counsel told the Rotary club that if all railroad bills before Congress become law the industry's costs could rise tenfold of earnings. He warned passage would push toward government ownership and could cut Cheyenne County tax revenue by about one third.
Old age assistance rolls show Cheyenne County with 227 recipients receiving an average of 25.44 dollars in May, higher than Brown County’s 176 recipients at 12.51 dollars. Douglas County records 3,842 recipients with total 74939.75 dollars and average 19.50, York and Lancaster also listed with varying averages.

The American Legion Telegraph and Fox theatre announce a queen contest for Cheyenne county with entries open to girls aged 15 to 20. Coupons grant 5000 votes from the paper and 1000 votes from theatre admission. ballots will be tallied daily at the Fox theatre lobby.
Preliminary work started Friday to reconstruct and enlarge the Sidney Catholic church. Contractor George Plein will build a cross shaped structure using native stone cement and face brick. The church will expand north south and west with a new east entrance to suit processions, doubling seating from about 260.

William Patton Miles 82 longtime Sidney resident and pioneer of western Nebraska died Sunday in Lincoln after three weeks of illness. A Hopkinton MA native, he moved to Sidney in 1874, joined Norval and McIntosh, gained a law license in 1887, and later served as county attorney.
The Inman brothers flying circus schedules two day stay in Sidney with two ships, four Boeing Clippers and Ford tri motors. After a rainout on June 8, organizers expect sight seeing flights and a 4,000 foot parachute jump by Carl Hall pending weather. Reports show 15 federal savings and loan associations in Nebraska expanded home building activity with direct reduction mortgage loans rising from 2.88 million to 3.74 million dollars in 12 months. State Engineer A C Tilley said the U S Bureau of Public Roads approved contracts totaling 135 508 for 314 miles of bituminous surfacing in Scotts Bluff Cheyenne Garden Saline and Stanton counties. Federal funds will supplement state funds. Cheyenne county project covers 5.7 miles of matting on No 19 between Huntsman and Sidney.

The Potter irrigation well owned by William Hagemeister produced 1500 gallons per minute upon startup. It uses a Worthington pump driven by a McCormick Deering tractor and slated for immediate practical use. Comparable successful wells are on the farms of George Coulter William Goding and A F Nielsen with Nielsen already years in operation.
Glen Doyle a 17 year old from Texas was sentenced to five years in the Lincoln men's reformatory after pleading guilty to assault with intent to rob. He admitted beating his companion Vicar Hernandez on a freight train toward Sidney. Hernandez overpowered him and alerted Union Pacific authorities.
The county faces ongoing grasshopper damage with a first batch of poison bait used and consumed by farmers. Precinct committees organize distribution to reduce confusion and save time. A second bait shipment arrives, sawdust delivery may delay mixing, and railroads Union Pacific and Burlington will fund bait on rights of way if farmers spread it on adjacent land.
