Speed boat races set for July 4 at Lake Babcock

Columbus Nebraska reports speed boat races on July 4 at Lake Babcock a 1000 acre artificial lake north of town. Dee Esche directs five races with boats reaching about 50 mph. Events include surf board exhibitions a casting contest and a 43 piece Lo up Valley Band from Ord. Attendance expected rain or shine with heats starting 1 30 PM.

Presbyterian church plans to hire resident minister and youth groups meet

The congregation met last Sunday to outline plans for securing a resident minister as soon as possible. A five member pulpit committee was named and an Every Member Canvas will begin. Sunday services include the Intermediate Endeavor Society and Senior Endeavor meetings with outdoor activities noted.

Obituary of Grace Bliss Duvall from Nebraska ties

Grace Bliss Duvall born May 4 1878 at Porter County Indiana near Westville died June 17 1939 at Fairbury Nebraska. She studied at Nebraska University and Central Medical College earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1902 with honors and a gold medal. She married Dr George Duvall on October 31 1906 and leaves a daughter Helen.

Recreational Supervisor Leads Boys Hike at Quivira Park

The article notes Recreational Supervisor Don Pahrenwald led a boys hike to Quivera Park near Endicott last Friday. County Picnic Planned at Fairbury City Park

Jefferson County Recreational Picnic is scheduled all day Monday July 3 at City Park in Fairbury per Supervisor Fahrenwald. Everyone invited. entertainment includes croquet horseshoes and other games. attendees urged to bring picnic lunches for a community gathering.

B B Kensington Club Meeting Notes and June Plans

Members of the B B Kensington club met Tuesday at Mrs Agnes Aie Ne ith home. Seventeen members, five visitors and eight children attended after the regular business meeting. A pleasant afternoon featured games and a tea served by the hostess. The next meeting will be June 27 at Mrs Ila Bugbee's home.

Hollenberg Notes Weekend Guests and Local Activities

Hellenberg area residents hosted out of town visitors including Mr and Mrs Roy Reynolds and Fred Justis family. Church women met for Aid and many area families hosted relatives and attended funerals for Dr Grace Duval. Wheat harvests continued as residents kept up with farm work and social visits.

Mrs. E. J. Wells traveled to Lincoln Sunday for a week's visit with her daughter Mrs. George McLachlin and sister Mrs. H. W. Douglas. Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Scott accompanied their granddaughter Peggy Avers to Davenport Sunday afternoon and returned the same evening.
