The annual school meeting was held last Monday evening and a quorum reached after canvassing. The school approved 6500 dollars for expenses for the coming year. Two vacancies remain in the high school facility. Two inches of rain fell here Friday night a most welcome rain. Floyd Westlake and wife visiting parents Mr and Mrs E W Talbott have returned to Wallace Kansas. George Parks, wife and daughter Merna Talbott and Mrs Martin Pitzsimmon from Lincoln left Saturday on a two weeks pleasure trip. They plan to visit Mr and Mrs Anthony Vaughi Powell Wyo. In Golofado they will spend time with relatives. They plan to see Yellowstone National Park and other places before returning home. Miss Lavon Justis employed at the courthouse in Washington is home on a week's vacation. Miss Maxine Oswald and Arline Justig were weekend guests in the home of the latter's uncle Joe Davis and family. Grant Wing spent a few days in Gilead in the homes of Mr and Mrs Jack Copenhaven and in the Andrew Ewing home, also in Steele City with his brother O J Wing. Prof L B Herring who taught two terms here will teach at Wayne Kan this coming year. Will Herring, wife and daughter Patty of Wichita Kans were weekend guests in the home of Mr and Mrs Ralph Abler. Belva Lee Cassell of Steele City was a weekend guest in the home of her grandparents Mr and Mrs KE W Talbott. Mrs O Cassell and family and Miss Hazeldean Manning of Steele City attended the Children's Day program and basket dinner here Sunday. Children's Day programs were given in the Methodist and Baptist churches Sunday morning. Mrs H L Mueller who has been staying with her son Russell Krapp the past five months in Helena Montana returned home Friday. Her two grandsons Edwin and Bobbie accompanied her home to make their home with her.
