Morning services are held at 11 o clock at the Congregational Church in Challis. Evening services follow at 7 o clock each Sunday. Sabbath School meets at 2 o clock p.m. on Sundays. Christian Endeavor gathers Thursdays at 7 30 p.m. Rev R B Nickerson is the pastor.

Hiram Patton persuades Bartimeus Graves to loan cash by offering a first mortgage on a shop and all its contents. Graves, wary yet ambitious, agrees to the deal with rigid terms, intending to claim ownership of the business assets through the mortgage. Neighbors note the transfer as the shop resumes operation under new ownership.
