Board and lodging advertised by Mrs M Jose northwest of R N Hull Co store Challis Idaho. Meals and lodging described as first class with fine large rooms good beds and table supplied with the best in the market. Available by day week or month at reasonable rates.
A leather valise found between Mackay and Challis on Saturday is offered for return to its owner upon proof of property. The ad appears in a Custer Idaho notice dated Sept 26.
This fragmentary piece presents T Shelley Button's verse about sunset over a village, ocean, hills and shrines, with imagery of nature, prayer, music and faith. It ends with a plowman returning home as evening light fades, mentioning Los Angeles and California.
The report details placer mines in Stanley Basin yielding abundant gold over 30 years. It describes the Mountain Girl shaft, Lucky Strike dike with tunnels, gold values per ton from $10 to $18, five claims owned by listed parties, a 20 stamp mill on Valley Greek property, and the Iron Dike cyanide prospect. A good mill site and rich terrain are noted with Stanley praised as a prime locale.
The speaker urges miners to reject the belief that quartz is the sole source of gold. He notes that about 75 percent of Idaho’s placer gold comes from porphyry and altered granites. He exhorts investors to examine porphyry dikes before dismissing them.

Mr FP J Conroy and Hon FP H Davis arrived in Challis last Saturday to report on the Myrtle group of mines owned by Messrs Davis, Hont and Kerr. Conroy previously promoted the sale of the Dewey and Sunnyside mines at Thunder Mountain.
