The Whitehouse Bakery, located in the Becker building at 219 South Main, Rittman, has discontinued operations. Under manager B Blanton the shop earned a good name, and the establishment will pass to another party yet to be announced. September 14 marked its final baking day in town.
A wedding at the First United Brethren church in Akron united Jeannette Amstutz of Sterling and J M Bair of Akron. The bride is daughter of Mr and Mrs J B Amstutz of Sterling, with guests from Sterling attending. After a nuptial dinner at the bride’s parents’ home, the couple headed east on a honeymoon, then plan to settle in Akron.
Frank Kits meets George Wilson in a four round main event next Friday at 199 East Market Street Akron promoter Welsh presents five bouts. Rittman fans expected. Kits in best shape says partner K O Kristner and trainer Tiny Herman.
In Leroy Ohio last Saturday afternoon the Leroy team defeated Ohio Boxboard Co 7 to 2 at Boxboard Athletic Field. Blough pitched for Leroy and a large crowd attended. The season winds down as football prepares to take spotlight with upcoming Rittman High School games on September 28.
At the regular meeting of the Rittman Village Council last Monday evening, an ordinance directing construction of new sidewalks on North Main Street and East Ohio Avenue was approved. The walks will be regulation size and completed soon with negotiations to begin with contractors.
Koehler Baking Co. takes over trade from Blanton at Whitehouse Bakery. William Becker begins representing Koehler in the area on South Main Street. Creston Bakery at Creston Ohio is purchased by Mr. Danton from Paul Myers.
One of Cleveland Presbytery’s largest meetings convened Monday and Tuesday at Milton Procsbyterian church with 76 ministers and elders. Highlighted by ordination of J Wollister for licensure, a memorial service for Dr McGuffin and Dr Sutphen, and visits to Ohio Boxboard and Ohio Salt companies. Public opening, varied business, and remarks on mission work in China and Pacific coast Orientals.
Last Monday a park squirrel was shot on Murdock Drive by James Plank a 14 year old with a .22 rifle. He faced charges for using firearms within city limits to willfully destroy public property but was released after appearing before Judge Saunders in Wooster. Residents note park wildlife adds local color and should be spared.
Supt V A Garver of Rittman Public Schools entertained his staff teachers and their families last Friday afternoon and evening at Wooster Public Park. Fifty four attended the get together to mark the start of the school year with a weiner roast and indoor baseball game featuring players from the group.
Wayne County Garden Club meets at Will Hookway's Dahlia Gardens nine miles north of Wooster and one mile west of the CCC highway at 3 p m. All members and others interested are invited to attend.
A Sunday afternoon ceremony at Apostatic Church united Mise Alian Todager and Renjady Wagman in marriage. They reside west of town on the Capman farm and plan a honeymoon trip through Indiana Timots Michigan and Bandas visiting relatives. A large reception followed with a wedding cake cutting and many gifts from relatives and friends.
Paul Plank son of Mr and Mrs Ed Plank Wright Street was at noon Saturday prostrated by a nervous breakdown while at lunch with his family. A physician advised rest indoors for several days with expected complete recovery if he follows the prescription. Plank has worked for over four months at Tilson Tire Shop on South Main Street and will resume duties upon recovery.

Ohio host five junior shooters meet Wayne county five at Orrville High School athletic field Friday Sept. 20 at 8 pm. Proceeds go to Orrville High School Athletic Association to fund the field. Wayne county team selected Sept. 18 at Hillcrest Gun Club. Bronze medals to each winner. The brick South Main garage north of the B and C tracks is being partially razed for remodeling. Twenty six feet of the front end have been torn, with work expected to continue. The cleared space will become driveways to six pumps opening with the business. Orahood Smith Co Wooster leads the project as the latest Nash garage in Wayne county. Clayton Dohner will manage the location.
Raymont Hall and A L Carpenter were hunting in Holmes County to open the squirrel season. The pair participated as local sportsmen in a seasonal outing.

An adjustment agent from Strict's Garage, Akron, arrived in Rittman to investigate the Votter automobile train collision. The agent, employed by the Frlo Railroad Co, seeks an early settlement. A Supreme Court decision limits railroad company liability in such accidents, urging consideration of the agent's figures of 158 car-train crashes within 20 miles of Akron this year.
The season opener at Box board Athletic Field features Rittman Right School, Wayne County champions, against Springfield High School, Summit County champions. Captain Jarry Boyce of Brit max pledges hard work as both teams prepare for a strong start.
A Rotary Club gathering featured Supt. Walle of Kent schools delivering a merit address. Attendees praised dedication of leaders and emphasized Rotary’s role in supporting community education and mentorship.
Mrs Frances Bair was injured in a Sunday auto accident near Woodstock Indiana. Her daughter Mrs John Melford and Mrs Bair’s husband Mew John Bair sustained injuries when a front tire failure sent the car out of control. All occupants were hurt. Mrs Bair severely cut and bruised, Mr Melford with shoulder injury, Mrs Bair died?
A wedding took place Saturday at a Creston parsonage as Miss From Sehar became the bride of Ray F. Younker of Creston. The bride wore white and the groom dark blue. she is daughter of Mr and Mrs Ephrault Scher. He is the son of Mr and Mrs David Younker of Creston and an electrician at Ohio Doxboard Ga in Rittman. After the ceremony the couple left for a honeymoon trip to Rite man, with many friends wishing them happiness.
