After a quiet summer the Rittman Business Men's association resumes monthly sale events. A barn has been purchased to hold livestock and sale articles with at least 20 dairy cows and 10 shoats plus 10 used cars listed for the Friday September 5 sale.
A Sept 15 home event hosted by Mr and Mrs Lance Sanday honored Mr Winifred Lanva and son Lawrence Merie of Daggett Michigan as they prepared to depart. Attendees from nearby towns shared lunch, games, and visits in a crowded rural social reflecting community ties.
John Irving, about 66, was reportedly killed when a Cleveland Southwestern electric car struck him as he backed a machine from his yard near his home south of Her maraville. Survived by his widow and a large family. brother Dr G H Irving of Orrville.
Reverend R Platter returned the latter part of last week from a vacation of several weeks in and about Cincinnati. Mrs Platter and Florence Louise were unable to accompany him due to Florence Louise's illness. Florence was taken ill shortly after arriving in Cincinnati and has been seriously ill throughout the vacation. Friends of the Platters extend sympathy to Florence Louise and hope for improvement. latest reports say she still has a temperature.
August births totaled six in Ritt and two in Milton township reported to the county health department. Notable births include Leo Blough daughter Joycelyn Matilda on August 2, Geo Leslie Latham son Donald Eugene on August 6, Carrol Wright son Charles Frederick on August 9, Juan Lovegood daughter Mary Lee on August 10, P M Hawkins son Cecil Eugene on August 17, Jozeph Zivkovich son Mike on August 20, Herman J Riggenbach Milton Township son Dana Louis on July 29, and Charles Crowhard son William Charlies on August 27.
Mrs Hiers attends the funeral of her mother in Bowling Green Ohio on September 6 and plans to stay several weeks to settle business. Her invalid father, affected by a stake injury years ago, will accompany her home later. Rittman Grange held a regular session September 11 with good attendance and a varied program.

At the annual NFCA meeting in Duluth Miss Bina M West was praised as the first woman elected president. W H Agwee served as president and the event featured a special program by WB As of Review 474 of Rittman with 21 members attending.
Mr and Mrs Gordon McGraw left Wednesday evening for Chicago where Mr McGraw will enter McCormick seminary and Mrs McGraw will be pianist in the conservatory of music She is remembered as Miss Marian Williams former high school staff member for three years and as a talented musician and dramatist in Rittman Local people wish her well in her new work.
Mrs Florence Petit hosted a party for friends with 16 guests including Miss Elisabeth Shultherss and Miss Lydia Dawson as guests of honor. A chicken dinner followed by games gave attendees a pleasant afternoon with numerous Sterling residents and relatives in attendance.
The Wayne County Fish and Game Club plans a picnic next Sunday at Long Lake south of Wooster. Bring own baskets and coffee supplied. prizes donated by Wooster businessmen for various sports. Joe Sherrick reports pheasants released near town this week.

Mr Charles Hummal and family attended the eightieth birthday party for Mrs Fred Hummel of Doylestown Ohio last Sunday. About 40 children and grandchildren gathered with baskets and she received many presents. Mrs Hutamelta in good health is mother of eight children 31 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren who are all living. They had a good time and departed wishing her many more happy events. The I. E Stoolmiller and Lawrepra Stoolmiller families left Monday for Hastings Ontario to enjoy fishing. 3 H Fisher and Mr and Mrs Lance from here are also at Hastings and it is expected that large catches will reveal the anglers from Rittman.
A goodly number of local hunters travel from the county to Monroe county for a squirrel hunt. Two large parties led by Mr and Mrs Edward Poote and Mr and Mrs Vern Stout with Mr and Mrs Robert Wenger camp at Wooda field. Others in Monroe county include Amos Carpenter Harry Raff Raymond Hall Ed Sigler and Clifford Shook.
Elmer Dulabahn, claimed as a son by Rittman, is nominated for the office of mayor at Doylestown and for Justice of the Peace of Chippewa Township. He taught in local schools and is active in grange work, deemed well qualified for the positions.
Rev Father F. E. Pasnacht of S S Peter and Pauls parish in Doylestown and Edward Koehler left Doylestown September 1 for New York City to join a Holy Year pilgrimage to Rome aboard the Leviation todo awake. A large number of Catholics from Ohio and across the United States are making the pilgrimage this year.
Automobiles owned by Ed Stocla and Roscoe Hartzler collided Saturday afternoon at the Steele cross roads on the Jackson Sterling night way. Arthur Steele, 23, and his father were injured with back injuries and were taken to Dr. Dawson in Sterling. The Steele top was wrecked.
High school football team under Coach Graber begins workouts before the school year starts at O Dell s Park. The squad will be lighter after last year s graduations and aims to replace players. A spell of heavy rain cooled a hot week, flooding streets in Lorain and other Ohio counties.
A Ford touring car overturned near Swageler school house south of Rittman while en route to work at a local factory. The driver, said to be from Georgetown named Vaughn, escaped with minor scratches though the car landed in a corn field with all four wheels airborne. The mishap followed a passing attempt that sent the vehicle off the roadway.
A well known violinist has organized a first class orchestra and dance band in Rittman. Chas. B. Bergen, formerly Evergreen Theatre director in Brooklyn, leads a seven man group connected with major opera circles. The ensemble aims to provide refined music for all occasions.
