School board critic Sylvan Wiles condemns the accelerated lunch schedule and crowded cafeteria lines, saying the shorter noon hour creates tension and leaves little time for a break. Principal Heter and others cite teacher breaks and transport concerns as issues, while the board moves ahead with a track project and a district facilities survey. Hospital land purchase eyed. auxiliary to donate 8000

Wadsworth Hospital Auxiliary plans to urge members to contribute 8000 from auxiliary funds toward an 18885 purchase of about 38 acres for a new hospital. The Wadsworth-Rittman area association holds an option on land west of Wadsworth, north of Rittman near old Route 224.

Reorganization and Reactivation of Junior Achievement Program

Junior Achievement will be reorganized and reactivated in Rit Man with an executive plan by Harold Byers. A Sept 23 meeting for JA participants is set at the JA building on North State Street from 7 to 9 PM. Henry Heffner will speak and film shows accompany the kickoff. two Junior Achievement companies are planned with about 20 members each.

Two Fire Calls Hit Rittman This Week

The Rittman fire department rushed to two incidents this week. On Salt Street Extension and Route 126 a blaze east of Packing Corporation of America burned land after fireworks sparked nearby, controlled in under 30 minutes. A gas well explosion at Leo Goffinet farm three miles west on Route 604 at 10 30 p m was extinguished in five minutes by the department.

Falb And Holt United Fund Heads

Machinery was set to organize volunteers for the second annual United Fund Drive in Rittman. Campaign chairman Lewis K Burnett named George Falb of Ohio Edison as utilities committee chair. Glenn Parman leads the group with William Holt as Organization Committee chair and Mrs Ethel Hauenstein as captain. The drive starts October 16 with a goal of 312,675.

Police Question Youths Over Vandalism Spree

Police Chief Merle Heffelman reports multiple youths will be questioned this week about vandalism across the community. Six boys have admitted involvement. three are high school students and three are junior high. The latest act involved tearing siding from the Royce Wagner home on North Third Street and two young children confessed after which their parents administered punishment.

D-Day For Zoning Committee In Se Muton Township

Serteroner Blatter reports the Se Muton Township Zoning Committee faces a decision day on whether residents will vote on zoning. John Mitchell of the State Department of Development attends the Sept 24 session. About 15 percent of township questionnaires have been returned to guide data for the potential zoning ballot. Public hearings would take 150 days after a preliminary land use report, with 90 days' notice to the board of elections before the November 1964 ballot.
