Rittman Indians Ready for Wayne County Preview and Season

Rittman High School Indians open with a Wayne County Football Preview against Norwayne at 8 p.m. They plan a full schedule: Sept 14 at home vs Millersburg, Sept 21 at Norwayne, Sept 28 at Doyles Town, Oct 5 at home vs Orrville. Coach Homer Pyle leads an squad of about 40 with assistants Ken Zeman and Wes Peterman.

Police fines for speeding backfire and license violations

Gene Schorle was fined 15 dollars and costs for speeding. Allen Reusser paid 10 dollars and costs for causing a car to backfire. Paul Vaness faced 15 dollars and costs for operating a motor vehicle without a license. Charles Dempsey was fined 100 dollars and costs and sentenced to three days in jail for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Banquet Planned by Rittman Hot Stove League

At a meeting of American and National League representatives, banquet plans were made for this year’s baseball season. The event will be Wednesday September 12 at 6 30 p m at American Legion hall. Committees include Food Henry Trogdon Jay Rohrer Don Glassner. Entertainment John Butcher Al Schaad Larry Wertz. The leaguers will feast together with players coaches and umpires invited to attend.

Services held for Brumfield infant in Rittman

Graveside services were conducted Friday afternoon in Rittman Cemetery for Sally Ann Brumfield three day old daughter of Sgt. Local Red Cross Bloodmobile Visit in Rittman Matches Volunteer Spirit

About 40 volunteers assisted the Red Cross Bloodmobile in Rittman on Wednesday. M. W. Bodager and Mrs Clarencéunk led the event with chairs Ralph Overholt transportation and hostesses committees. Nurses and helpers from local church groups registered donors and prepared the canteen and setup.

Labor Day crash injures three people in jail

Lindell Ray Hooser, 24, driver of the other car, his wife Wilma, and their 16 month old daughter were injured in a Labor Day crash. All were released from the hospital by Tuesday after Hooser said he traveled north at 20 mph and signaled left, while following Dempsey reported 55 mph and no signal.

Fly Days at Wadsworth Airport Showcases Aircraft and Turkey Shoot

Residents may tour Rittman and Wadsworth air displays at the Wadsworth Municipal Airport on Sundays Sept 9 16 and 23. Sponsored by the Wadsworth Airmen's Association led by Dr Nevin Klotz the event runs noon to 6 pm with plane and helicopter rides a photo ops and a turkey shoot. Over 3000 invitations have been issued for airmen statewide and participants may use sponsor furnished ammunition and guns or their own.

American Legion corn roast set for Tuesday night

A corn roast will be held Tuesday Sept 11 from 6 pm at the American Legion grounds under Legion sponsorship. Those attending will be served all the corn they can eat for 50 cents per person. Mr and Mrs Ted Burbage of Wadsworth were dinner guests of Mrs Walter Blackwell and family.

Enrollments Highlight Rittman Schools Growth

Funeral services are set for John J Scholtes 73 of Sigler Hotel who died after a long illness at St Anker Hospital. Born in Germany he emigrated in 1888 and lived in Cleveland before moving to Rittman 16 years ago. He worked as a public accountant later a chiropractor and was an Esperantist authority. He leaves a sister Mrs Marie Webb of Exeter California. Burial in Knowlwood Cemetery Cleveland.
