By noon today 113 men registered at the Rittman draft center in City Hall council room. Kenneth Hilty registered first Monday morning. daily totals totaled 19, 46, 37, and 11 through Thursday morning. The American Legion and Legion Auxiliary run the registration with volunteers listed.

1949 Driver's License Sale Starts September 7

Seven intoxication arrests heard before Mayor Ritter
In recent sessions Mayor Melvin R. Ritter dealt with seven intoxication cases. Edward Newell, Joe Landry, James Brown, Frank Baco, Alexander Easley, John Byrd, and M D McClure faced fines of 10 dollars and costs for intoxication, with McClure facing a higher amount on a second offense. Lindsey Adkins faced an assault and battery charge with a 50 dollar fine. Frank Baco was convicted of petty larceny and driving without a license, paying 15 dollars and costs. Donald Hughes paid 5 dollars and costs for intoxication, Amos Scott 10 dollars for reckless driving.

City League Softball Tourney Kicks Off Tuesday
The city league round robin will start Tuesday at 7 30 p m at the old Boxboard field with a double header featuring Pleasant View Daily vs B and W Oil Co and Robinett s vs Moose. The winners meet next night for the final. A three game little world series between first and second half champions will be Sept 13–14 at 7 30 p m. The series winner gets the city league trophy. Robunet s beat the Moose 13 12 to clinch the first half title in a rain postponed game.
