Vandals and fire damage hit Old Gettings Farm barn
Vandals started a fire at the Old Gettings Farm near Rittman, spilling rye seed and tipping farm equipment as a Baltimore and Ohio freight delayed the fire response at the South Main Street crossing. Slim Wilmot Rites Thursday Marking Local School Guard
L. Slim Wilmot longtime Rittman resident and school guard at Sunset and North Main Streets died while preparing for duty after a day of teaching children. He served eight years on the Rittman Board of Education from 1954 to 1962 and later was a five year attendance officer. He also led as president for a decade.

Ruth Black Isaac Rufener Jr announced the formal opening of Rufeners at 137 East Ohio, unveiling 3,800 square feet of carpeted showroom space with a full line of home furnishings.
