Funeral Friday for J B Sherrick Wooster barber justice
Funeral arrangements for Joseph B. Sherrick 55 Wooster resident and former barber include viewing at United Brethren Church from noon and service at 2 pm Friday for friends. He died Tuesday morning from heart failure at his home on Main Street. Sherrick was a World War II veteran, former village official and real estate agent, and served as justice of the peace. Surviving are his widow Bertha and son Richard, with a sister and brother in Holmesville and Wooster. Funeral home is McIntire Wooster with Legion honors at the cemetery.

Corporal McGorry Tops Army Bugling Contest
Corporal John R McGorry of the 54th Armored Infantry Regiment, 10th Armored Division, won the division bugling contest held April 17. Major General Paul W Newgarden opened the proceedings and praised the bugler’s value to the Army. Twenty contestants from every battalion competed before two playoffs decided the winner, who received a trophy from the commanding general.
