Probate filings name executors trustees and heirs, including Will hearings set for May 23 1943. estates Hiltbrand Reiset Rutledge and Harpster detailed with appraisals and divisions among spouses children and grandchildren.
Mary Baker vice president led a class with navy blue and white colors. The yellow rose class flower symbol and the motto Invictus appear. Named graduates Shirley Palmer Doris Rush Pauline Shook Frances Simpson Gladys Steiner Gloria Stocker Nelle Vallandingham Kathleen Williams Beverly Wolfe receive honors.
Lloyd M. Price leaves Friday for Columbus to enter the Army Saturday. He has just completed his junior year at Otterbein College and will enroll with fellow Otterbein classmates. Reverend and Mrs. W E. Price are his parents, and they hosted him during his visit.
An advanced class in first aid begins in October as Muss Marie Beery RN receives awards for teaching and coordinating the course. Members listed include Iris Gordon Jean Davidson Esther Endig and Kathryn Steiner among others. A class presentation honored Beers with a book of war stamps and a box of handkerchiefs.
Application forms for War Ration Book No 2 were distributed in Rittman at the fedass mall and at the post office for those who did not receive them at home. Additional copies will be available at the post office. Returns to Columbus are needed between June 1 and 10.
Selman Field Monroe Louisiana announces Shirmemmthoward King Arch-Hye of Steering promoted to captain. He attended Ashland College and Ohio State University earning a 2009 education degree and a 1936 Cleveland Law School graduation. Commissioned May 10 1942 he taught at Maxwell Field in the pre flight school as a bombardier navigator. He is the son of Mr R B King of Sterling and the former Miss Estella Goodhart of Wooster.
In Rittman High auditorium last Saturday evening the Juniors hosted the Seniors in a tropical themed informal reception. A 6:30 supper opened the event with Jim Wenger as Junior president delivering the welcome and Mary Baker, Senior president, giving the response. Joan Britton guided the program with interspersed dances to recordings featuring Purv Pullen and Patsy Pace. Contests during the dancing included a grand march and a fitterbug, with top prizes to Mervyn Stoolmiller, Marie Ochler, Peggy Poe, and Joan Britton.
The War Ration Board announces that effective last Friday furlough bound service members may receive up to five gallons of gasoline for travel. Eligible soldiers must show an automobile registration and present their pass or leave papers to prove furlough status.

Willard Smith was reelected President and Commander of the Rittman Auxiliary Policemen at a Wednesday City Hall meeting. Officers named include assistant commander, vice president, Ralph J Krabbl as secretary, Paul Baker as treasurer, Ed Elsass as guard, and Basil Hardgrove. Entertainment committee members were Charles Boling, Harry Walker, and Clyde Kindig as chairman. Strong attendance promised active future meetings and events.
Wooster High sophomore twins Elaine and Ellen Miller performed piano and violin for the Rotary club at noon. They study under Dan and Clarice Parmelee of Wooster College Conservatory. Elaine favors piano and Ellen violin. W E Price introduced the artists and guests. attendance reached about 1000 after a recent club vote requiring lunch payments for unnotified absences. Kiwanis Wooster members John Fisher and V A Garver showed fishing trip movies at Tuesday noon.
A Treasury Department notice explains war bonds fund essential equipment for soldiers such as canteens. Plastic canteens cost about 43 cents, with canvas cores around 41 cents. Purchases via War Bonds or Payroll Savings support gear for troops in the Solomons, Africa, and other theaters.
Jacob Cumings died of a cerebral stroke Wednesday at his home on Wright Street. He was 52. Funeral set for Saturday at 2 PM at Milton Reenteriant Church with Rev D K R Daviatson in charge and Rev Albert Bessy assisting. Viewing Friday night at the family home. Survived by widow Myrtle, a daughter Mrs. Jay Griffith, and two sons, Richard in the Navy at Del Monte California and Jack of Schenectady NY.
WAAC recruiting offices open in Rittman after a special Legion Hall meeting for interested women Monday May 24 at 1 pm. Sponsoring officers are Mrs Joseph Waid Legion Auxiliary president and Mrs WoW Bollager publicity chairman. Three Rittman residents Elaine Daniel Morence Bruce and Mary Volek are named WAAC volunteers.
Rittman filed suit in Wooster against planning groups to block a June project to seize land for a cemetery. The council earlier passed an ordinance to appropriate the land. The suit asks no jury to fix compensation and identify landowners. Solicitor C E Rhonemus prepared the petition.
Democrats of Rittman will meet at City Hall next Friday May 28 at 8 pm to prepare a city slate of candidates for the municipal election. Chairman W W Bodager announced the caucus will reorganize and elect new officers and there will be other politically important business to transact.
Sergeant Pete Matz, a six year Army veteran attached to the 30th Infantry, earned the Silver Star for gallantry in Tunisia on April 29. The award, announced to his family this week, notes his radio communications specialty and seven months in North Africa with over a year overseas. Betty Matz, his sister, reports the family honor.
The Juniors beat the Seniors 23-9 in a Sunday series game. Seniors failed to score until the fourth inning as the Juniors built a dominant lead. A crucial championship game is set for Sunday at 1:30 PM on North Main school field.

The Riman school board approved a 10 percent salary increase for teachers, hired five new educators, and set a new minimum pay of 1200 with top salaries at 1900. The move, adding five contracts, aims to fund through a proposed extra mill on the operating levy in the next election.

Rittman mail delivery slowed by Erie Railroad changes as first class mail shifts from the 6:40 a m westbound train to the 9:30 a m arrival. Postmaster notes 87 percent of incoming mail came on the 6:40 train from Chicago Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Rural carriers waited at the post office until noon to sort mail to avoid 24 hour delays. only slight improvement is a later 11 p m parcel post departure for western mail.
