Council to vote on fire protection contract and WPA plans

The council met Monday with all members present to discuss a fire protection contract and review WPA plans and costs reported by Engineer Steiner. Bills were approved except for a disputed watchman bill. Main Street paving is finished. Imhoff tank work at the sewage plant progresses. Vincent Gotfpet was asked to bid on street signs and markers and contact James Hille for the service committee. A special meeting will be held to decide on the WPA costs and contract approval.

Vacation Bible School at Rittman First Brethren Church

Rittman First Brethren Church plans a daily Vacation Bible School from May 81 to June 10, with sessions 9 to 11:30 a.m. and a 3 p.m. Friday registration. Bible teaching and recreation will be emphasized, with prizes for attendance and for bringing new members. A picnic is set for June 11, and a special meeting will be held June 10 at 7:20 p.m. Transport assistance is available through Pastor L Grubb.

Marshal Arrests Man for Disorderly Conduct

Ira Steele Stegittsan was arrested Thursday night at 11 30 by Marshal Charles Hoffelman on a disorderly conduct charge. He was tried before Mayor Roy Baker Friday night and fined 10 dollars and costs total 13 80 dollars.

Scout Troop 405 Plans June Benefit Show and Camping Trips

Scout Troop 405 sponsored by Total Rotarians and American Legion reports steady growth as it splits into two divisions meeting at N Main Street State School and N First Street Grammar School. A June 6 benefit show at Ritts Theatre funds equipment ahead of summer camping with Camp Manvatock on June 12. Doylestown Woman Killed In Automobile Crash

Florence Leidy 36 of Doylestown died Sunday night in a two car crash on route 6 southwest of Johnson Corners. Her husband Wilbur was injured but survived and attended the funeral at Campfield-Hickman Memorial chapel. She is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Mckiwain and six sisters.

Motion Picture Cooking School Closes Friday In Rittman

The Rittman Press hosted the final showing of Star In My Kitchen at the Rit ts theatre drawing nearly 200 attendees including Rittman and Sterling High school home economics classes. Three showings drew almost 450 people with prizes awarded to 13 attendees and local merchants aiding the event.

Bessie Workman Granted Divorce in Wooster Court

Maria Workman obtained a divorce from Ber Busbabd on grave neglect grounds at Wooster common pleas court. The custody of the seven children was granted to her and Mr Workman was ordered to pay $35 monthly for their support. Attorney G. Rhone represented the plaintiff.
